Causes of infertility

There are many factors can inhibit the process of the conception:

AGE Fertility naturally decreases as women age. Peak fertility for women is in their twenties.

DAMAGE TO THE FALLOPIAN TUBE Inflammation of the Fallopian tube can lead to scarring that blocks movement of the egg. Recurrent infections are the most common cause of fallopian tube damage.

ENDOMETRIOSIS This condition decreases the body’s ability to transport, fertilize and implant a developing embryo.

PCOS This disorder can prevent ovulation, causes menstrual cycle irregular, excessive hair growth, weight gain and acne, as there is imbalance hormones in the body. It is also a common cause of infertility.

UTERINE FIBROIDS may cause pelvic pain, pressure, constipation, recurrent bladder infections or heavy periods. They can interfere with fertility and conception as they disturb the development of the endometrial lining, and making embryo implantation difficult.

OVULATION DISORDERS indicate hormonal imbalance and malfunctioning of pituitary gland and the ovaries, they can cause female infertility.

PELVIC ADHESIONS Scar tissues can form in the pelvis. This prevents passage of eggs and sperm through the fallopian tubes and interfere implantation in the uterus, and may occur as a result of endometriosis, previous pelvic or intra-abdominal infections.

SPERM QUALITY A semen analysis to check the number, appearance and movement of the sperm.

The key to successful pregnancy is reproductive health: a healthy egg and a healthy sperm merge to become a healthy embryo, and the uterus needs a healthy blood supply for implantation.

Acupuncture is used in fertility treatment to stimulate reactions in the body that support the function of the pituitary gland, adrenal and thyroid glands, ovaries or testicles. This stimulates the body to balance the secretion of pregnancy hormones.

Chinese herbal medicine has powerful healing properties which works on the internal organs and reproductive system. It aims to clear obstruction, rectifies the balance yin and yang in the reproductive organs and helps to restore their healthy reproductive functions.

In male fertility treatment, acupuncture combined with herbal remedies have proved to be a highly successful method of raising sperm count, motility and quality. As sperm take around 3 months from formation to full maturity, the treatment must always be continued over several months.

The combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine and healthy lifestyle advice is often the most effective fertility treatment. The recommend course of fertility treatment is at least three months both for men and women, this can increase the fertility rate 50-65%. We monitor the progress closely in order to identify where the improvements can be made in order to achieve optimum fertility and reproductive health.
